Pollok is a large district on the south-western side of the city which was built to house families from the over crowded inner city. Built from the 1920's to 1950's housing 30,000.
The main features of the area are the nearby park, Pollok Country Park and the adjacent Crookston Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was once held.
Pollok's Catholic children are served by St Paul's High School.
Non-Catholics are served by Rosshall Academy to the north of the area.
Pollok had the largest Tesco in Scotland at the side of the old Pollok Centre and the newly opened Silverburn Centre however the largest Tesco in Scotland is now the Port Glasgow store, which opened in July 2007 with a floorspace of (110,000 sq ft)
